A tava is a large, flat, disc-shaped pan made from metal. It is a griddle usually made of cast iron, sheet iron, aluminum, or sheet steel. A tava, or saj, is usually used to cook many varieties of leavened and unleavened crepes and flatbreads such as roti, saj bread, chaap, paratha, and dosa.

The tava is commonly found in Indian households and used as a utensil. It varies in diameter and ranges from 8 to 12 inches for home use, and up to an entire meter in commercial kitchens.
